It has been speculated that Gentles has been involved in a gay relationship with guitarist Nick Valensi. Rumours of the love affair spread after photos of the 2 surfaced on the internet. It has been said that during sexual interactions with Nick, Gentles, is "the catcher" and Nick is "the pitcher".
After the gay porn film "Group Therapy" was sent out to fan club members in place of the "In Transit" DVD fans began to refer to Gentles as Genitals.
He enjoys long walks on the beach and excessive amounts of time on the internet.
